Earn a Total of 3.6 MCLE Hours | 2.4 Ethics | 1.2 Elimination of Bias

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced a host of conferences, institutes and individual CLE programs from summer to fall, from in-person to virtual venues. This year’s Annual Meeting is pivoting too. Rather than moving the entire in-person conference to an already crowded virtual space, this year’s Annual Meeting is going to shift and offer:

  1. A “National Speaker Series" – three one-hour CLE presentations, four influential speakers, on three important topics, over three lunchtime segments during three days in September, and
  2. On demand delivery of the traditional profession-building activities (usually during the Opening Luncheon) that annually reinforce and remind us of our shared professional bonds and common values and celebrate the stability and strength of Missouri’s legal profession, even during these very unstable times.

At a time when the entire profession is working to recover from the effects of the worldwide pandemic, we are pleased to offer all 2020 Annual Meeting events at no-cost for members, thanks to our generous sponsorship partners.

Chief Justice's Speech, Senior Counselors Recognition, Swearing-in of President-Elect John Gunn

Wednesday, Sept. 16
10:00 a.m. (access on demand link from email message sent from 2019-2020 Missouri Bar President Tom Bender)

Look for an email before Wednesday's lunchtime plenary for a special President’s Message and instant access to the annual celebration that marks the end of a bar year.

Usually reserved for the Opening Luncheon at the Annual Meeting, this program is that yearly reminder to appreciate and value the common bonds, enduring values, and shared pride as a member of the profession – you can watch this 45-minute dose of inspiration immediately or later on-demand.

The programs normally part of the Opening Luncheon of the Annual Meeting include:

  • 2020 Senior Counselors recognition;
  • Farewell from President Tom Bender to formal swearing-in of President-Elect John Gunn; and
  • Annual remarks to the members of The Missouri Bar from Supreme Court of Missouri Chief Justice George W. Draper III

Plus an interview with Missouri Bar Executive Director Mischa Buford Epps.

Award Recipients Celebrated and Recognized Throughout August and September

While the virtual environment doesn’t do justice in honoring the lawyers who have been chosen recipients of the 2020 Missouri Bar, Missouri Bar Foundation, YLS and Prosecutor of the Year and Defender of Distinction awards, we have decided to expand the recognition beyond a single event. Instead, each grouping of awardees will be announced weekly extending the honor throughout the month of August and September.
